Mater terra by Alessio Barchitta

Barchitta is an emerging artist born in Sicily who trained just down the road at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. The two casts are sculptures of his own head and explore themes of authenticity and sustainability. The artist experimented with materials and tones to make the plaster, the first is made from ground down bricks while the second is made of powdered tuff stone.
